Styled after US currency but featuring colourful Disney characters, Disney Dollars began circulating in 1987. Adopted for use in both the California and Florida theme parks -- and, later, at Disney Stores and on Disney cruise ships -- the bills came in $1, $5, and, later, $10 and $50 denominations. They were discontinued in 2016, but remain sought-after collector's items by Disney fans!
In 2009, Disney Parks issued the Celebrate Today! series of Disney Dollars. Available in denominations of $1, $5, and $10, the notes encourage celebrating the little things in life. The obverse of the $1 note features Mickey Mouse and Pluto holding a birthday cake with the text "Celebrate You!", whilst the reverse depicts Florida's Cinderella Castle in the clouds with the text, "There's so much in life worth celebrating!" A wonderful little slice of theme park memorabilia for the Disney fan in your life.
