2019 Ontario Provincial Police 50th Anniversary Veterans' Association Challenge Coin
Challenge coins as they exist today have been carried by the members of military units since at least the 1950s. They are meant to be presented in response to a "challenge" -- that is, they are tokens that prove affiliation with the group when asked. These challenges are sometimes called "coin checks." In more recent times, challgenge coins have been adopted by other organizations that want to encourage inernal camraderie, including police, first responders, and even corporate offices.
This 2019 challenge coin was issued to celebrate the 50th anniverary of the Ontario Provincial Police's Veterans' Association.
