2021 CFSAC Lincoln & Welland Regiment Commanding Officer 40 Years of Service Challenge Coin
Challenge coins as they exist today have been carried by the members of military units since at least the 1950s. They are meant to be presented in response to a "challenge" -- that is, they are tokens that prove affiliation with the group when asked. These challenges are sometimes called "coin checks."
This 2021 challenge coin appears to have been custom-made for a Commanding Officer of the Lincoln and Welland Regiment, celebrating 40 years of service. The coin's centre features a full-colour medallion identifying the recipient as the pistol champion of CFSAC 1985, an annual marksmanship competition.
