1982 World's Fair Knoxville, TN, Souvenir Medallion

The 1982 Knoxville International Energy Exposition, known colloquially as Expo 82, was a World's Fair focused on energy and electricity. It received over 11 million visitors and saw participation from over 20 nations. Notable attractions included the Sunsphere, a futuristic-looking tower topped with a gold-coloured glass sphere; the Painting Robot, an early Japanese attempt at AI; the world's largest Rubik's Cube, showcased by Hungary; and a Peruvian mummy that was unwrapped and studied at the fair.

Medallions have historically been popular souvenirs for World's Fairs. This one features the U.S. Pavilion on the reverse. Please note, the case exhibits some visible scratches and scuffs, especially in direct light.
