Since 1993, the Royal Australian Mint has been producing fine silver coins featuring the kangaroo, an Australian icon. The 2014 coin's theme was Explorer's First Sightings. Based on lithographs by 19th century zoological illustrator Henry Constantine Richter, who published them in the 1845 book Mammals of Australia by John Gould, the reverse of this 99.9% fine silver coin features two kangaroos in long grass.
