Kingdom of Bohemia 1471-1516 Rev. Lion Vladislaus II Groschen AU-UNC (AU55)

Vladislaus II of Hungary (1456–1516), also known as Vladislaus II Jagiellon, ruled as King of Bohemia from 1471 and of Hungary from 1490. A member of the Jagiellonian dynasty, his reign is often characterized as politically weak, as he relied heavily on the nobility and granted extensive privileges that reduced royal authority. His nickname “Dobzse” (meaning “well” or “good” in Polish) reflected his tendency to agree readily with advisors and nobles. Under his rule, the kingdom faced increasing financial strain and struggled to maintain strong defenses, particularly against the rising threat of the Ottoman Empire. By the time of his death, the weakened state of royal power contributed to the challenges his successor would face in defending Hungary.

Reverse: The Bohemian lion within a beaded circle, with the denomination in the legend around.
