Ancient Greece 246-221 BC Euergetes Ptolemy III, Alexandria Octobol VF-EF (VF30)

Ptolemy III Euergetes (r. 246–222 BC) was one of the most successful rulers of the Ptolemaic Kingdom, overseeing a period of military expansion and prosperity. Early in his reign, he launched the Third Syrian War against the Seleucid Empire, advancing deep into their territory and securing vast gains. He was also known for his benefactions to temples and the return of sacred statues taken by earlier conquerors, which earned him the epithet Euergetes (“Benefactor”). Under his rule, Egypt remained wealthy and stable, and he continued to support cultural institutions such as the Library of Alexandria.
