Ancient Rome 37-41AD Agrippa Copper AS Very Fine (VF20)
Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa (63–12 BCE) was a trusted general, statesman, and close friend of Augustus, playing a crucial role in the founding of the Roman Empire. A brilliant military commander, Agrippa secured key victories during the civil wars, most notably defeating Marc Antony and Cleopatra at the Battle of Actium in 31 BCE. Beyond the battlefield, he was also an able administrator and builder, overseeing major public works in Rome, including aqueducts, baths, and the original Pantheon. Loyal and modest, Agrippa declined personal ambition in favor of supporting Augustus, making him indispensable to Rome’s transition from Republic to Empire. His legacy lived on through his descendants, many of whom were linked to the imperial family.
