Ancient Rome 30BC Marc Antony Silver Denarius Extra Fine (EF-40)

Mark Antony (January 14, 83BC - August 1 30BC) was a Roman general and statesman, best known as a loyal supporter of Julius Caesar and a key player in the transformation of the Roman Republic into the Roman Empire. After Caesar’s assassination in 44 BC, Antony formed the Second Triumvirate with Octavian (later Augustus) and Lepidus, dividing control of Rome’s territories. He’s perhaps most famous for his political and romantic alliance with Cleopatra VII of Egypt, which culminated in their defeat by Octavian at the Battle of Actium in 31 BC. Antony’s life ended in 30 BC when he and Cleopatra took their own lives after their final military loss. His story, full of ambition, loyalty, and drama, remains one of the most compelling in Roman history.
