                  Ancient Roman Republic 82BC Head of Apollo L. Marcius Censorinius Silver Denarius Almost Uncirculated (AU-50) 
Lucius Marius Censorinus was a moneyer circa 82BC, and a member of the Marcius Censorinus, which was a name used by the branch of the the family line gens Marcia of ancient Rome, who claimed legendary decent from Marsyas.
Obverse: The laureate head of Apollo facing right, possibly symbolizing harmony, and referencing the plague of 87BC, invoking Apollo's role as a healer.
Reverse: The satyr Marsyas standing facing left, raising his right hand and holding a wineskin over his left shoulder. Beside him stands a colum surpounted by a statue (possibly Minerva). The inscription "L. CENSORI" references the issuer, Lucius Marcius Censorinus.
