1886 Normal 6 Obverse 5 Short Bough Ends Canada 25-cents Extra Fine (EF40)
Obverse: Diademed head of Victoria facing left, with the legend around.
Reverse: Crowned denomination and date within a ribboned wreath of two maple boughs.
Victoria Obverse 5:
Bust Line: The most dramatic diagnostic point for a Variety 5 is the location of the point of the bust line, which falls to the serif of "C" in CANADA.
Crown, Hair, & Eye Detail: There is a very small strand of hair below the crown. The upper eyelid is thin and long, extending well back into the temple.
Lip and Chin Detail: The upper lip has a pronounced curl and falls with a slight curve out from the nostril. An aging chin show definite doubling lines.
Right Ribbon End Detail: The right ribbon end has a lazy "U" shape with equal arms.
Short Bow Ends Variety: The stem of the left sided bough ends further away from the rim of the coin.
