2026 Canada 50th Anniversary of the CN Tower Commemorative Collector Keepsake Card
An easy way to get—or give—both versions of Canada’s $2 CN Tower coin. With a Commemorative Collector Keepsake Card, you get both versions of the 50th Anniversary of the CN Tower coin—struck and colour with glow—in one complete set! The 2026 $2 commemorative circulation coin celebrates Canada’s tallest freestanding structure on the 50th anniversary of its official opening. The colourized edition is only the second glow-in-the-dark Canadian circulation coin. Both versions, however, showcase the same engraved view of Toronto’s evolving skyline, unmistakably defined by Canada’s National Tower—a world-famous landmark that continues to shine brightly in the hearts and minds of Canadians.
Reaching for the sky: A two-coin celebration of Canada’s tallest icon.
Conceived by visionary architects and engineers as a bold answer to a telecommunications challenge, the CN Tower emerged as both a triumph of engineering and a modern architectural wonder. In just over two years, more than 1,500 workers—rotating through 24-hour shifts, five days a week—completed the concrete form, topping it with a massive steel mast that brought its height to a whopping 553.33 metres (1,815 feet, 5 inches), making it the world’s tallest freestanding structure from 1976 until 2007.
Designed by Canadian illustrator Carl Wiens, the coin’s reverse commemorates the 50th anniversary (“50 YEARS ANS”) of the official opening of the CN Tower (“LA TOUR CN TOWER”) on June 26, 1976. The inner core features a view of the CN Tower overlooking Lake Ontario and dominating a contemporary downtown Toronto skyline, whose tall skyscrapers tower above an outline of the city’s skyline as it appeared in 1976. When the photo-luminescent (glow-in-the-dark) technology is activated on the colourized coin, the scene shows the CN Tower and skyline illuminated at night, reflecting Toronto’s vibrant energy. Additional silhouettes on the outer ring represent five decades of growth and architectural evolution, with the skyline in 1976 appearing on the left and the 2026 cityscape on the right—a visual record of Toronto’s transformation into a modern, world-class city. The obverse features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Canadian artist Steven Rosati.
