2026 Canada 50-cent Whimsical Winter Lenticular Coin
Glide into holiday magic with this whimsical winter scene.
Celebrate the joy of the season with this heartwarming keepsake, which shows Canada’s circulation coin animals having fun on the ice! With every tilt, the lenticular image shifts between day and snowy night, each angle revealing a moment of cheer, as these four friends make the most of a winter day. Like a snow globe come to life, it is the kind of scene that captures the simple joys and cozy magic of the season—a winter wonderland where snowflakes dance, scarves fly, and even a tumble turns into a giggle-worthy memory.
Whether tucked into a stocking or given as a cheerful keepsake, this playful piece is a charming, all-ages gift that brings a touch of Canadiana and a swirl of nostalgic joy to any festive moment.
Bringing warmth and wonder to holiday celebrations.
On the coin’s reverse, the beaver is smart to get a lift from the polar bear, who is used to moving on sea ice (without skates, mind you): Polar bears are used to moving around on ice: their black footpads are covered with papillae—small bumps that create friction with every step—which, combined with their claws and thick fur, provide better traction on ice and snow.
The coin’s reverse features a shifting lenticular image of a whimsical winter scene designed by artist Steve Hepburn. The colourful trees form a fantastical backdrop to the playful antics of four animal friends inspired by Canada’s circulation coins. The loon looks on as the beaver and polar bear skate across the frozen pond, and the caribou wobbles on skis. When the coin is tilted, the friends are still making the most of this winter day, undaunted by the snow and cold as evening sets in; the caribou and loon, who have each taken a tumble, smile at the sight of the beaver sliding on its tail while being pulled by the polar bear, who calmly skates along. The obverse features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Canadian artist Steven Rosati.
