2026 Canada 25-cents Specimen
The Canadian 25-cent piece—commonly known as the quarter—has featured the iconic caribou on its reverse since 1937, with only occasional commemorative exceptions. This long-standing design has become one of the most recognizable motifs in Canadian circulation coinage.
The caribou, a member of the species Rangifer tarandus (also known as the reindeer), is native to Arctic, sub-Arctic, tundra, boreal, and mountainous regions across Europe, Siberia, and North America. Its presence on the quarter reflects the deep connection between Canada’s wildlife and its national identity.
The obverse features the newly designed effigy of King Charles III, designed by Steven Rosati.
