2026 Canada $200 150th Anniversary of the Library of Parliament Pure Gold (No Tax)
Own this gold tribute to Canada’s most beautiful room.
Within the Library of Parliament, stories of Canada’s past and the ideas shaping Canada today come together beneath its vaulted ceiling, creating a space where history, knowledge and democracy are preserved and shared. That legacy is captured on this 99.99% pure gold coin, which invites you to step into the Library’s grand reading room, often called Canada’s most beautiful room. The design draws the eye upward, past the statue of Queen Victoria to the soaring dome that crowns this richly ornamented space. Framed by intricate woodwork and bathed in light—here, a rich golden gleam—the jewel of Parliament Hill is a space that continues to inspire wonder.
Celebrating 150 years beneath the dome.
Spanning 47.2 metres in diameter, the wrought iron frame of the Library of Parliament’s dome was the first of its kind in Canada when the Library opened 150 years ago, in 1876. If this view looks familiar, you might have seen the vaulted ceiling on our first concave coin, issued in 2016, or as a metallic image on Canada’s vertical $10 banknote.
Crucial to Canadian democracy
Your coin commemorates the Library’s milestone anniversary by celebrating both its architectural splendour and its legacy as a trusted source of information for Canada’s Parliament.
Pure gold
Crafted in 99.99% pure gold with a mirror-like proof finish that highlights all the intricate architectural details so beautifully engraved on the coin’s reverse.
The reverse design by Canadian artist John Mantha features a stylized rendering of the Library of Parliament’s richly ornamented interior. Crowned by a lantern dome, the vaulted ceiling and clerestory are viewed from the base of the Queen Victoria statue, emphasizing the dome’s impressive height, while the circular room’s walls are lined with wood panels, pillars and bookcases. The obverse features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Canadian artist Steven Rosati.
