Gold accents and a new pattern – the Royal Canadian Mint's second Super Incuse Kilo SML coin proves that they're big on details. Order today!
Seeing is believing: after taking art to all-new depths on the first Super Incuse Kilo Silver Maple Leaf (SML) coin in 2021, the Royal Canadian Mint is following it up with this showstopper, which features a luxurious metal accent. Yellow gold exudes elegance as it lights up the coin’s namesake leaf, which is struck super-incuse on the reverse. With a typical incuse strike, the maximum relief depth represents roughly 10% of the coin gauge; with a super incuse strike, they are able to achieve an incredible incuse depth of 4.5 mm – roughly 35% of the coin gauge. To top it off, they incorporated the new “maple burst” field pattern on both sides of the coin, introduced on the 1oz. SML and 2 oz. GML coins launched earlier this year – an added feature that further captures your attention and holds you spellbound!
Yellow gold, a new pattern and a super-incuse strike — a bold statement for 2024.
This is only the Royal Canadian Mint’s second Super Incuse Kilo SML coin, the first was issued in 2021. While both the 2021 and 2024 editions feature an impressive incuse depth of 4.5 millimetres, the addition of yellow gold in 2024 introduced new production challenges that needed to be overcome in order to successfully create this stand-out piece.
The coin’s reverse features Walter Ott’s Silver Maple Leaf (SML) bullion design. Struck incuse and backed by a “maple burst” field pattern, the iconic sugar maple leaf is plated with yellow gold and reaches a depth of 4.5 millimetres. The field pattern repeats on the coin’s obverse, where yellow gold plating highlights the effigy of his Majesty King Charles III by Canadian artist Steven Rosati.
