Known colloquially as the "twoonie", the Canadian Canada Two Dollar coin was first introduced in 1996, replacing the Canada Two Dollar bill. Designed by artist Brent Townsend, the twoonie depicts an adult polar bear.
This coin was originally a part of the 2021 100th Anniversary of Bluenose Fine Silver Proof Set.

A special locking mechanism allows the outer ring and the core to stay locked together. This patented mechanism was developed by the Royal Canadian Mint.
