2018 Canada Specimen Set - Burrowing Owl
As is typical, the outer cardboard sleeve might have some light wear, and/or the leatherette case might have some deterioration, and/or the COA might be slightly ripped as they often stick to the case.
Where open grasslands provide unobstructed views, the long-legged burrowing owl (Athene cunicularia) stays close to the ground and its subterranean nest. This bespeckled summer resident of Canada's Prairie Provinces is one of our smaller-sized owls, and its features are beautifully showcased on the aureate dollar coin that is at the heart of this 2018 Specimen Set.
