2026 Canada $200 Crown Jewels: A Tribute to the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Queen Elizabeth II Pure Gold

A regal tribute, with rubies and diamonds echoing Canada’s colours. Order today!

The Baring Ruby Necklace is among Queen Elizabeth II’s most celebrated ruby jewels. Its clusters of vivid rubies and diamonds, culminating in a dramatic three-pendant centrepiece, were worn to many banquets and formal occasions—and one particularly striking moment came in 1977, when she opened Canada’s Parliament in Ottawa, where flashes of ruby mirrored the nation’s red in a historic moment of elegance.

This exquisite 99.99% pure gold coin reimagines that iconic jewel, dividing the necklace’s neckline and centrepiece with graceful scrollwork and setting genuine rubies and diamonds in 14-karat yellow gold mounts. Limited to 200 coins, this collector’s piece radiates the artistry and brilliance of the original, while honouring the enduring legacy and timeless style of Queen Elizabeth II on the centenary of her birth.

Unlike the royal brooches highlighted on previous Crown Jewels coins, the Baring Ruby Necklace was not a gift, but a personal acquisition: it was bought at auction in 1964. It became one of Queen Elizabeth II’s most prominent ruby jewels, often worn for major occasions, including the 1977 opening of Canada’s Parliament in Ottawa as part of her Silver Jubilee royal tour.

Designed by artist Anna Bucciarelli, the coin’s reverse features an artistic interpretation of the Baring Ruby Necklace, acquired by Queen Elizabeth II in 1964 and frequently worn throughout her reign. Genuine rubies and diamonds—a total of 120 round brilliant cut diamonds (0.50 total carat weight) and 22 round and oval cut rubies, all set in 14-karat yellow gold mounts—are arranged across the design, where clusters along the outer edge echo the necklace’s neckline, while the three-pendant centrepiece takes pride of place amid scrollwork incorporating the maple leaf and Tudor rose. The obverse features a guilloché pattern and the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

Special Features

  • Peek inside the royal jewellery collection. This 99.99% pure gold coin features an artistic interpretation of the Baring Ruby Necklace, one of Queen Elizabeth II’s most prominent ruby jewels. It is a captivating tribute to a monarch whose grace, loyalty, and affection for Canada shone throughout her reign, and whose timeless style defined an era.
  • Genuine rubies and diamonds. The coin’s artistic interpretation of the royal necklace, with the centrepiece presented separately from the neckline, consists of 120 round brilliant cut diamonds (0.50 total carat weight) and 22 round and oval cut rubies (1.50 total carat weight) set in 14-karat yellow gold mounts.
  • Ornate scrollwork. Elegant and elaborate, the engraved filigree scrollwork incorporates Canada’s maple leaf and the Tudor rose.
  • Third Crown Jewels coin. Launched in 2024, the Crown Jewels series takes a closer look at some of the Royal Family’s most magnificent jewellery pieces.
  • Historic obverse. In honour of the centenary anniversary of the late monarch’s birth, the coin’s obverse marks the return of the fourth (2003-2023) effigy of Queen Elizabeth II—the final one of her reign, and, for many Canadians, the definitive image of a monarch who witnessed so many pivotal moments in Canada’s history.
  • Regal and rare. Only 200 coins are available to collectors worldwide—a lower mintage than 2025’s Williamson Diamond Brooch.
  • Special certificate. In addition to the serialized certificate from the Royal Canadian Mint (the Royal Canadian Mint certifies all of its collector coins), the coin comes with an additional certificate of authenticity for the precious gems.

Packaging:
The coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded wood case enclosed in a black beauty box.
