About half of the 1968 nickel 10-cents were minted at the Philadelphia Mint in the United States, because of the pressure of other work at the Royal Canadian Mint. The Philadelphia and Ottawa issues differ only in the number and shape of the grooves in the edge of the coins; the Philadelphia issues have squared bottoms on the grooves, while the Ottawa strikings have v-shaped bottoms.
