Following the arrival of the master tools with the new obverse legend omitting "ET IND:IMP:" in 1948, the 1947 Maple Leaf coinage was terminated. For the remainder of the year, coins were produced with the new obverse and the true date, 1948.

A Off Denticle/A Between Denticles Variety: The last "A" in GRATIA points between two large denticles. Reverse has 128 denticles.

Obverse: Uncrowned head of George VI facing right, with the legend around.
Reverse: A maple twig with the date below and to the left, the denomination above, and CANADA below.
