1936 D Arkansas Centenial USA Half Dollar Brilliant Uncirculated (MS-63)

The 1936 Arkansas Centennial Half Dollar was issued to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Arkansas’s admission to the Union in 1836. The standard 1936 issue features the distinctive design introduced the previous year by artist Edward Everett Burr, with the conjoined portraits of a Quapaw Indian chief and Lady Liberty on one side. The pairing was intended to represent Arkansas at the time of its statehood and a century later, while the dates 1836–1936 emphasize the centennial being celebrated. The opposite side features an eagle with outstretched wings before the Arkansas state flag, which incorporates the diamond-shaped emblem associated with the state’s identity.

Obverse: Liberty head wearing a cap and a Native American wearing a headdress looking left, with the double dates of the centennial directly in front of each head, and the legend below. 
Reverse: An eagle in front of the Arkansas flag, with the denomination and date below, and the country name above.
