1910 Edwardian Leaves Canada 50-cents About Good (AG-3)
Edwardian Leaves Variety: Because the Victorian Leaves variety 50-cent pieces being coined at the Ottawa Mint had almost no rim, it was requested that the parent Royal Mint in London make new reverse tools. In addition to a wider rim, the new variety (known as Edwardian Leaves) had several altered leaves and a different cross atop the crown. The most noticeable difference affects two outside leaves at the right side of the date. On the prior reverse, these leaves have long points which nearly touch the denticles, but on the Edwardian Leaves reverse, these leaves have shorter, more curved points farther from the denticles.
Obverse: Crowned bust of Edward VII facing right, with the legend around.
Reverse: Denomination, country name, and date surrounded by a ribboned wreath of two maple boughs.
Specifications:
Monarch: Edward VII
Designer and Engraver: G.W. DeSaulles (obv) Leonard C. Wyon, W.H.J. Blakemore (rev)
Composition: 0.925 silver, 0.075 copper
Weight: 11.66g
Diameter: 29.72 mm
