Obverse: Laureate portrait of Queen Victoria facing left, with the legend around.
Reverse: Crowned denomination above date, within a wreath of two maple boughs.

Obverse 1 Variety
Hair Detail: The first two strands curve and break at the temple. The next three strands join to make one thick strand.
Eyelid detail: Upper eyelid is completely formed but does not join the lower lid at the corner of the eye.
Outer ear detail: The opening to the ear is completely enclosed by the outer ridges.

Narrow 0 Variety: The Narrow 0 has sides of equal thickness, and is more common than the Wide O, which has a thicker right-hand side of the O.
