WE-11B Wellington Cuidad Rodrigo Halfpenny Token Wellington ICCS Certified EF-40 (BR #986)

These tokens, called Peninsular Tokens, were struck for use by Wellington's Army in Portugal and Spain, and commemorate Wellington's victory at Salamanca over Napoleon's troops. In 1814, specimens of the token were brought to Canada by troops who had arrived to fight in the War of 1812.

Obverse: Laureate portrait of Wellington facing left, with the legend around.
Reverse: The names in text of famous battles won by Wellinton against Napoleon.
