This coin was issued to commemorate the first, and only, passenger-carrying zeppelin flight around the world, which was completed by the LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin in August of 1929. The zeppelin was commanded by Dr. Hugo Eckener, with the journey beginning and ending in Lakehurst, New Jersey (33,243 km) and took 21 days, 5 hours, and 31 minutes. There were twenty passengers (including journalists and a millionaire), and 40 crew members on board this flight.
