Ten South Dakota Goldback Aurum 1/100oz 24K .9999 Gold Wafer Foil Note (No Tax)

These 24K foil notes contain 1/100oz .999 Fine Gold.  Goldbacks resemble standard paper currency in shape but are made with thin layers of 24-karat gold. Initially introduced in Utah following the Utah Legal Tender Act, they serve as a voluntary currency, allowing transactions at the vendor's discretion. Nevada, New Hampshire, Wyoming, and South Dakota, Florida, and Oklahoma—have each launched their own Goldbacks in subsequent years.

This South Dakota Goldback depicts Harmonia is shown on the obverse field of each 10 South Dakota Goldback Note. In Greek mythology, Harmonia is the goddess of harmony.
