Hong Kong 1997 Transfer of Sovereignty First Day Cover 5 Dollar BU Coin & Stamp
At midnight on July 1, 1997, British colonial rule over Hong Kong came to an end. The island had been a British colony since 1841, following its cession after the First Opium War. After the handover, it officially became part of the People's Republic of China. This First Day Cover from the Royal Mint, including a 5 dollar cupronickel coin, celebrated the handover with a vibrant, full colour envelope.
