1971 Victoria, BC, Centennial Medallion
The capital city of British Columbia, Victoria is one of the oldest European settlements in the Pacific Northwest. Established as a Hudson's Bay Company trading post in 1843, Victoria exploded into a bustling town with the discovery of gold in Fraser Canyon. By 1862, it was incorporated as a city. When British Columbia joined the Canadian Confederation in 1871, Victoria became the provincial capital.
This 1971 token celebrates 100 years since British Columbia joined Canada. It displays British Columbia's Parliament Buildings on the reverse.
