1976 Simcoe, ON, Court House Square .999 Silver Rotary Dollar (No Tax)
Perched on the shore of Lake Erie, Simcoe, Ontario was founded in 1795 by Lieutenant Governor John Graves Simcoe. This original settlement was destroyed in the War of 1812, and the modern village began sprouting in the 1830s and 1840s. The courthouse, pictured on this beautiful silver proof token, was finished in 1864 in the Italianate style that was popular throughout Victorian Ontario.
This .999 silver token, weighing just over 17 grams, was produced in 1976 to raise funds for the Rotary Club.
