Lot of 29x Sequential Brazil 1990 50 Cruzeiros Banknotes, 29pcs
Brazil, named for the brazilwood tree, is the fifth largest country in the world, occupying half of South America's landmass. Home to both the Amazon River and the world's largest virgin rainforest, it is a tropical country of immense beauty. Historically, Brazil has been inhabited for at least 11,000 years. It was colonized by the Portuguese Empire beginning with the foundation of Sao Vicente in 1532, and over the next several decades, exploratory expeditions would expand Portuguese territory to modern Brazil's approximate area. Portuguese rule was expelled in 1825, following the Brazilian War of Independence, but the country later fell into cycles of military dictatorships that lasted from the 1890s up through the 1980s. Brazil is now a proud republic.
These 1990 banknotes feature portraits and works of Brazilian poet Carlos Drummond de Andrade.
