The fourth in the popular Wildlife Series, this one-ounce bullion coin from the Royal Canadian Mint depicts the moose, one of Canada's most iconic mammals. The moose is the largest member of the deer family, weighing, on average, over 680 kilograms and standing about 1.8 metres at the shoulder. Their name comes from the Algonquin term mooswa which means something like "twig-eating animal." Moose do indeed eat a lot of twigs, consuming over 30 kilograms of vegetation every day.
