2001 Sierra Leone $1 Big Cats Colourized Lion Coin in Case (issues)
Part of the Pobjoy Mint's "Big Cats of the World" series, the reverse of this cupronickel coin features portraits of a majestic lion and lioness. Lions are unique among big cats for their social behaviour, living in family groups of 10 to 15 animals called prides. Labour in these groups is divided: females hunt, and males patrol the pride's territory. Often called "king of the jungle," African lions actually prefer grasslands. Asiatic lions, however, do indeed prowl the jungles of India, having adapted to dense, thorny forest habitats.
Please note, this coin exhibits some toning and the capsule shows some scratches and scuffs.
