Struck by the Wellings Mint in 1965, this large (52mm diameter, 3.274ozt) medallion honours the life of Sir Winston Churchill, United Kingdom Prime Minister from 1940 to 1945 (during the Second World War) and again from 1951 to 1955. The obverse features a facing bust of Churchill in his iconic bowtie, while the reverse displays a Canadian flag next to a British flag and the text: "In war: resolution. In victory: magnanimity. In defeat: defiance. In peace: good will. Sir Winston Churchill; November 30, 1875; January 24, 1965."
This medallion has been tested and found to be .999 silver. There is a non-silver version of the same medallion.
