2004 Canada 400th Anniversary of the First French Settlement Fleur-de-Lys Privy Mark .999 Silver Dollar ICCS Certified MS67 NBU (No Tax)
In June of 1604, French explorer, navigator, and colonizer Samuel de Champlain (1567-1635) aided in the foundation of Port Royal, the first European settlement in what would one day be Canada. Located in the upper Annapolis Basin in modern Nova Scotia, Port Royal would become the launching point for expeditions farther into the Canadian interior, leading to the eventual foundation of Quebec and greater New France.
In 2004, this monumental historical event celebrated its 400th anniversary. This beautiful .999 silver coin features Champlain's ship, Le Don de Dieu, alongside his original sketch of Arcadia.
