Brazil 1820 10 Reis (DOD)
Brazil in 1820 was part of the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil, and the Algarves under John VI, who lived in Brazil during the occupation of Portugal by Napoleon. He is remembered today as a founder of the modern Brazilian state, though he lost it in 1822 when his son, Pedro I, declared Brazil's independence. Brazil and Portugal would continue to share a monarch until 1889.
