In 1983, the Summer Universiade was opened by Prince Charles and Princess Diana of Wales. To commemorate the occasion, the Sherritt Mint released this Klondike Dollar in both nickel-plated and gold-plated editions. Featuring elegant busts of the Prince and Princess on the obverse and the inscription, "Official Opening, World University Games, July 1st 1983."
