Denmark 1918VBPGJ Ore EF-AU (EF-45)
The Denmark 1918 VBPGJ Ore was issued during the reign of King Christian X. Although Denmark remained neutral during World War I, the country’s economy was heavily affected by the conflict, particularly through disruptions in international trade and critical metal shortages. Before 1918, the 5 Ore had been struck in bronze, but wartime necessity forced the Danish government to conserve valuable metals such as copper, a key component of bronze. The coin bears the initials VBP for mintmaster Vilhelm Buchard Poulsen and GJ for engraver Knud Gunnar Jensen, the officials responsible for its production during this challenging period.
Obverse: Crowned CX monogram in center, initials VBP and mint mark at lower left, date and initials GJ at lower right.
Reverse: Ornaments flank the value in two lines.
