DC-21g 1912 Dominion of Canada $5 Hyndman-Saunders, Blue Seal, Seal Only, Series C Legacy Certified AU-58

In May of 1912, the Dominion of Canada issued its first $5 banknote, known as the "train note". This highly sought after collectible features a central vignette of a train on it's face, rather than a traditional portrait. On the face, the Ocean Limited is travelling through Nova Scotia's Wentworth Valley on the Intercolonial Railway. The train symbolizes progress, commerce, and Confederation-era connectivity, as railroads were the backbone of Canada's economy at the time. Similar to other Dominion notes, this note is large - approximately 7 1/4 x 3 1/4 inches, and often referred to as "large format" or "horse blankets".

Face Design: Passenger train Ocean Limited of the Intercolonial Railway travelling though the Wentworth Valley in Nova Scotia
Back Design: Lathework, counters, and "Dominion of Canada" above.
Signatures: Geo. W. Hyndman, T.C. Boville
