Australia 1916 1/2 Penny Almost Uncirculated (AU-50) $

The 1916 Australian half penny and penny were the first non-indian coins to be produced by the Royal Mint's Calcutta Branch. The Calcutta Mint had been successfully producing copper Annas and silver rupees since 1862, so the mint had the resources, systems, and experience to produce this new coin. 

Obverse: Cronwed and robed bust of George V facing left. 

Reverse: In the center within a circle of beads, the words "One Half Penny" in three lines above a plain scroll; around the circle of beads, Commonwealth of Australia 1911.
