The Australian penny was first introduced in 1911 and last minted in 1964. From 1911 to 1936, the obverse featured the portrait of King George V, while the reverse displayed the word “ONE PENNY” within a beaded circular border, surrounded by the legend “COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA” with the date below.
Obverse: Crowned and draped bust of King George V facing left wearing the Imperial Crown and the ermine Robe of State, the Collar of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, and the Badge of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath.
