Prince Edward Island Joined Dominion of Canada 1873 Medallion (Silver Coloured Version)
When the various British colonies that comprise modern Canada were beginning plans to unite as a country, Prince Edward Island hosted the Charlottetown Conference. This was a political meeting between representatives of said colonies, which started the discussion of what a potential union could look like, leading to the eventual Confederation of Canada. Despite the Charlottetown Conference being the beginning of Confederation, PEI itself did not join until 1873.
This commemorative token celebrates Prince Edward Island's decision to join the Dominion of Canada. The reverse displays rolling fields with an idyllic farm, whist the obverse shows the island itself with Charlottetown highlighted.
