Venerated in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, St. Michael the Archangel has been the warrior of God in texts dating back to at least the 2nd century BCE. The Book of Enoch lists him as one of seven archangels; he is often thought to be their leader, standing at the right hand of the throne of God. His most famous Biblical appearance is Revelation 12:7-12, where he battles Satan at the end of days.
This gorgeous piedfort sterling silver coin from the Bradford Exchange features a detailed engraving of St. Michael, wings spread, wearing a cuirass and brandishing a sword. Above him sparkles a beautiful blue Swarovski crystal -- a colour sacred to St. Michael.
