The first in the popular Dinosaurs of Canada series, this 99.99% fine silver coin features Bathygnathus borealis, a powerful dinosaur with a distinctive, spiny dorsal sail. The only known fossil was discovered in 1845 in Prince Edward Island, making it the first dinosaur found in Canada and the second in all of North America. Today, Bathygnathus borealis has been reclassified as Dimetrodon borealis, after a 2015 study by the Royal Ontario Museum linked it to other dinosaurs in the genus Dimetrodon.
