One of a number of similar medals celebrating King George VI and Queen Elizabeth's visit to Canada in 1939. This example features the overlapping busts of the monarchs inside an inscription which reads, "King George VI - Queen Elizabeth - Long May They Reign." The reverse reads "Royal Tour - Canada - 1939." The tour was held just months before the outbreak of World War II, intended to garner support for the United Kingdom in anticipation of potential conflict.
