British Armed Forces 1943 1 Shilling Note, Pick #M2

British Military Authority (or BMA) notes were issued to soldiers to use in newly occupied places during and after World War II. The intent was both to insulate the local economy from British army spending and to prevent counterfeiting. Notes like these were used by British troops in Italy, Greece, Japan, Yugoslavia, North Africa, and, after 1946, Germany. This specific note was issued for use in Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia.
