1982D USA George Washington 250th Anniversary .900 Silver Half Dollar AACGS Cert. MS65
George Washington (1732-1799) became the commander-in-chief of the Continental Army on June 14, 1775. Despite being outgunned, outmanned, and outnumbered, he led the Patriot army to victory against the British Empire and became a Founding Father of the newly independent United States of America. Washington was unanimously elected the first president, and his office set many precedents that endure today. His legacy remains a cornerstone of American culture.
In 1982, the United States Mint issued a special 90% silver half dollar to commemorate Washington's 250th birthday. This was the first commemorative coin issued since 1954. The obverse displays Washington on a horse, whilst the reverse displays his residence and plantation, Mount Vernon. This coin has been inspected by the American Alliance Coin Grading Service and assigned a grade of MS65.
