German States 1611 Duchy of Jagerndorf 3 Kreuzer Fine (F12)
The Duchy of Jägerndorf was a small Silesian duchy centered around the town of Krnov (Jägerndorf in German), in present-day Czech Republic. It emerged in the late Middle Ages as part of the fragmented Piast-ruled territories of Silesia, often passing between local dukes and larger regional powers. In the early 17th century, it came under the control of Johann Georg von Brandenburg, a Protestant prince who became involved in the Thirty Years’ War and lost the duchy after siding against the Habsburgs. Thereafter, Jägerndorf was absorbed into the Habsburg lands, reflecting the broader decline of Silesian independence as the region was consolidated under stronger Central European monarchies.
