Ancient Roman Republic 122BC Dioscuri Quintus Minucius Rufus Very Fine (VF-20)

Quintus Minucius Rufus was a Roman statesman and general active during the late 3rd century BCE. Serving as consul in 197 BCE alongside Gaius Cornelius Cethegus, he played a key role in the Second Macedonian War against Philip V of Macedon. Minucius Rufus helped secure Roman dominance in Greece, contributing to Rome’s growing influence in the eastern Mediterranean. His consulship is remembered for the successful coordination of Roman forces that paved the way for later victories and the eventual settlement that expanded Roman power abroad. Though less famous than some of his contemporaries, he was an important figure in Rome’s rise as a Mediterranean power.
