Ancient Rome 79-80AD Rev. Venus Julia Titi Augusta Silver Denarius Very Fine (VF-20)

Julia Titi Augusta was the only daughter of Roman Emperor Titus and a prominent woman of the Flavian dynasty. Born around 64 AD, she was known for her beauty, poise, and political presence during a turbulent period in Roman imperial history. After her father’s accession in 79 AD, Julia enjoyed a high-profile status at court and was deeply respected by both the public and the Senate. Following Titus’s death, she remained influential under the reign of her uncle, Emperor Domitian, who later granted her the honorary title Augusta, elevating her to the status of an imperial goddess after her death in 91 AD. Ancient sources—often scandal-tinged—hint at a possibly controversial relationship between Julia and Domitian, but many modern historians treat those claims with skepticism. Regardless, Julia Titi remains a fascinating figure who stood at the heart of Roman power during one of its most pivotal dynastic transitions.

Obverse: The draped and diademed bust of Julia Titi, facing right, her hair in a long plait, with the legend around.
Reverse: Venus, naked to the waist, standing facing right with her left elbow resting on a column, and holding a helmet in her right, legend around.
